10 Questions With The Team at 27four | Claire Sherwood
In this series, we ask members from our team a mix of random questions, 10 to be exact, and see what’s on their mind – the projects they’re working on, things they like, and some surprising facts from the people that are living investments.
We’re joined by Claire Sherwood who recently joined the 27four Umbrella Fund.
What major projects are in the pipeline now?
Implementation of Default regulations within the 27four Umbrella Fund.
With effect from 1 March 2019, retirement funds have to provide default options for members in terms of investment portfolios, benefit preservation on exit from the fund and pension options upon retirement. These default options are to assist members who don’t want to make a choice or do not have the knowledge to enable them to make an informed choice. We are currently working with the Fund’s Board of Trustees to establish these default investment portfolios and also ensure the Fund rules cater adequately for all the regulatory changes.
What is the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
A man in India started building a road by himself between his village and the local school so that he could ensure that his son could get to school every day. He worked on it for 8 hours a day, every day for two years with nothing but a pick-axe and a crowbar. Before the road was in place the children had a 10km walk through thick bush, up and over boulders and hills which took around three hours per day.
What would you name your boat if you had one?
The Dragon Lady
What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever been?
Kotor in Montenegro. The old town is nestled in a bay with mountains all around it and is walled in with the wall extending up the mountain that rises directly behind the town. The view from the top of the mountain – after walking up the 1350 steps – is breathtaking
If you had a time machine, where would you go right now?
I’d go back to Egypt when they were building the Pyramids to see how they actually managed that amazing feat of engineering.
Is there life on mars?
I don’t think so…but definitely somewhere else in the universe.
Are you more of a hunter or gatherer?
What are you working towards in your free time?
- I am trying to learn Swedish so I can surprise my niece and nephew next time I visit them in Stockholm
- Learning to programme/code in R and Python
- Updating my parents wedding photo album to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary
Teach me something we probably don’t know.
